Situated close to Tetbury, the Forestry Commission’s, Westonbirt Arboretum definitely has to feature on your Gloucestershire / Cotswolds Autumn or Spring “Must do” list. It is very picturesque and a lovely place to walk around and relax.

It is easy to find, located just 3 miles outside of Tetbury. It has been a few years since we last paid a visit to this national treasure so on a lovely crisp Sunday Autumn afternoon we decided it should be the base for our Sunday afternoon stroll.

There is ample parking at the Arboretum. The peak entrance fee is £10 per adult but if you wish you can opt for an annual membership which will cost £39 per person.  It is very good value for money because you can literally spend hours exploring.  It is an ideal place for a family walk and it caters for all abilities and ages.

We decided to follow the Autumn trail which was spectacular. There are different trails for the different seasons. If you have a dog there are separate walks you can do if you wish.

The golden and red Autumnal colours did not disappoint, they were stunning. It was lovely to see well looked after specimen trees from all around the world.  The arboretum has over 15000 specimens (2500 varieties).

At the end we enjoyed walking around the visitor centre & gift shop and there is a large cafe for tea, cakes and snacks.
