DESCRIPTION:The term wassail goes back to anglo-saxon times and is a form of toast. “Waes Hael” – Be of good health. The reply to this toast is for the company to say “Drinc hael” – Drink healthily.\nWassailing in the Stroud area was practised until the 1960s\, and is now gradually being revived. There is a rich collection of wassail songs from the villages around Stroud and this corner of the Cotswolds.\nThe songs reflect a tradition that was widespread in England but is somewhat different to the apple wassailing that has become popular in recent times.\nClose to 12th Night\, the wassailers would go from door to door\, or around the pubs\, carrying a wassail bowl and singing a wassailing song. The theme is to wish everyone a prosperous year. \nWith some 34 morris sides and mummers plays\, rumour has it that Stroud Wassail has become the largest Wassail in the UK. We can’t verify that\, but we were pretty impressed by the number of sides that came from places as diverse as Devon\, Suffolk\, Leicester\, Birmingham and Cardiff to join in. \nhttp://stroudwassail.com/

DESCRIPTION:Tetbury Music Festival 2018\nThe Tetbury Music Festival was founded in 2003 by Graham Kean and Elise Smith and brings to Tetbury the finest musicians you are likely to hear outside of the great concert halls of the world. They perform in the extraordinarily beautiful parish church of Tetbury\, St Marys’ Church.  An early and fine example of Georgian Gothic architecture\, the church has a fine acoustic to match which attracts both musicians and audience. \nThe Festival takes place in the early Autumn when the nights are drawing in and the church is lit by candlelight. The album is an eclectic rolling journey that recalls elements from an illustrious 23 year history while always looking ahead to the next phase. \nSince their inception in 1993 Dreadzone have steadily been releasing underground storms of albums\, progressively bettering\, refining and perfecting their own unique and inimitable take on dub – mixed as it is with aspects of dance\, sublime guitar riffs\, folk roots sentiments and breakbeat bass styles – whilst bringing the party to every club\, dancehall and field they’ve shown up at.
